We just finished recording Ep. 2 of “The Bio-Individual” podcast, so it should be out sometime next week.
I’m doing this podcast with Alex of SOFCast. We met online after our mutual Gil-Martin noticed similar themes in our work and writing. Well it turns out we were on the same forum years ago, are influenced by some of the same people, and both teach psychophysical techniques which complement each other quite well.
Oh and we both have a similar harsh attitude to all this self development and esoteric stuff online, which is mostly just another distraction and doesn’t lead to real self-change. So hopefully the conversation strikes the right balance between friendly advice and unfriendly rants.
The name of the podcast comes from Christopher Hyatt, author of “Undoing Yourself” who called himself a Bio-Individual Philosopher. We’ll talk more about him and his work in future episodes, his influence on us, and where our current work differs in some ways.
Alex teaches an interesting breath work technique – which is different in both theory and practice from anything else I’ve heard about – so you should sign up to his Substack here:
In Episode 2 of The Bio-Individual we talk/rant about:
Left hemisphere vs Right hemisphere
Dysfunctional left hemisphere vs Functional left hemisphere
The role of language in thinking and doing
The concepts of the Self and No-self in awakening
Reading books vs doing things
Alfred Korzybski and maps of reality
Posture and breath work
You can subscribe to the show – nudge nudge wink wink – and listen to episode 1 below:
Let us know what you think – leave a comment below, or ask a question and we’ll try to answer/rant about it in the next episode.
Cheers,
Kevin
